AGD to provide PDF writable Marriage Forms for celebrants

The Attorney General's Department has followed up on the recommendations of the Coalition of Celebrant Associations (CoCA) to provide the Marriage Forms in pdf writable formats.

See the message from the Senior Legal Officer below.

The Attorney General’s Department’s response is a good example of how your suggestions and advice, whether given on your own CoCA association Forums or via our What' On Your Mind, really help your  CoCA delegates to work on your behalf to bring about positive change.

Your CoCA delegates appreciate your active membership, your support and your ideas and encourage you to continue to contribute thoughts and suggestions for improvements both to the Commonwealth Marriage Celebrant Program and to the wider profession of celebrancy.

Good news start to 2015.

Dear associations

As briefly mentioned in the email of 15 December 2014, following the recent associations meeting, the department has agreed to make the Official Certificate of Marriage (formerly form 16) and the Declaration of no legal impediment to marriage (formerly form 14) available to all celebrants in a PDF writable format.

All celebrants can now access the forms from the department’s website.

The department will advise celebrants of the availability of forms early next week (we are currently having systems issues which are preventing us sending all-celebrant emails). State and Territory Registries of Births, Deaths and Marriages have also been informed.

There have been no changes made to the content or format of the PDF writable forms. We will continue to work through the detailed comments and suggestions on the forms raised in the 2 December 2014 meeting as part of the forms consultation in 2015.

Kind regards
