Client Services qualifications streamlining and review project update

Dear IRG Members

I hope you are all well.   I am writing to provide you with an update regarding the progress of the review and streamlining of the Client Services qualifications.

To date, I have been busy conducting an internal review of the units of competency and researching sector issues and have split the units of competency into the 2 parts required by the streamlining model. The next step is to convene the Subject Matter Expert Groups (SMEGs) to look at the qualifications and units of competency in more detail. As agreed in our IRG meeting, I have broken the work up into the following groups and have pencilled some corresponding SMEG meeting dates:

  • Employment Services and Careers – 27 September 2012 at CS&HISC offices
  • Family Services – 4 October 2012 at CS&HISC offices
  • Celebrancy – early October to coincide with the upcoming CoCA meeting (location and date to be confirmed)
  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) – this is currently being reviewed with our LLN expert in house but will be circulated online to organisations that are currently using these units.
  • Case Management – still to discuss approach with the Case Management Society of Australia.

Thank you to those IRG members who have sent through SMEG nominations. I will now proceed to send out official invitations. Please feel free, however, to send me through additional nominations.

Finally, please see below for the latest schedule for the project. In line with this I was hoping to pencil in our next IRG meeting date for  Thursday 8 November 2012 here at CS&HISC offices and I would be grateful if you could let me know if this date is suitable. You will also notice that the period of public consultation is set between mid- November and late December of this year. This consultation is going to be mostly conducted online but I will also be doing a presentation at the Family Relationship Services Australia national conference in November in Darwin. If there are any other relevant events or meetings that we can bolt on to or attend to seek stakeholder feedback on draft one, please let me know.

I hope you are all well and look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Robyn
