Welcome to your June 2014 wireless microphones update.

Watch and learn—with only six months to go, we’re excited to release our wireless mics short video, featuring popular TV personality Shelley Craft. Watch the video on our website or YouTube to understand the changes and how to prepare. You can also share, like or retweet the video on Facebook and Twitter to your family and friends.

Coming soon—work is almost finished on an ACMA ‘frequency finder’ tool that will complement our suite of regional fact sheets.

Consultation outcome—the Authority has recently considered feedback on proposed regulatory changes, including allowing indoor use of wireless microphones in the 520–694 MHz frequency range, that will benefit all wireless microphone users. We’ll shortly be announcing the Authority’s decision.

4G technical trials—we’ve issued licences to Telstra and Optus to conduct technical trials for 4G services in the 694–820 MHz frequency range. Their licence applications included mitigation plans to reduce the likelihood of interference to wireless audio devices (including wireless mics) as well as contingencies in the event that any 4G trial causes interference.

Attention suppliers and professional users—the ACMA has recently updated its technical planning data for planned digital television services (on 24 June 2014).
