Hello Rona,
The Coalition of Celebrant Associations (CoCA) Inc., the peak body for celebrants, is the only Australian association of celebrant associations.
Changes to Marriage Act 1961 Advice from the AGD website:
On 9 December 2017, the Marriage Amendment (Definition and Religious Freedoms) Act 2017 will commence. The Act changes the definition of marriage and provides for marriage equality in Australia. The right to marry in Australia will no longer be determined by sex or gender. More information is available on the AGD Marriage equality in Australia page.
Information for couples planning on getting married is available on the AGD Getting Married page.
Information for marriage celebrants on the changes to the Marriage Act and the marriage forms and certificates is available on the AGD Celebrant resources page. Email Advice from the AGD:
The Attorney-General's Department commenced sending emails to all authorised marriage celebrants this morning the 8th December 2017.
CoCA published this information here for those celebrants and others who may not have received that email.
Key Changes to the Marriage Act:
The Attorney-General's Department has given all associations a summary of the key changes to the Marriage Act. Read more here.
Have your say? All celebrants are invited to make comments and raise issues with CoCA whether you belong to an association or not. Use our What's on your mind? to give your feedback. Maybe now is time to join a CoCA celebrant association?
CoCA associations have a lot to offer, especially with their membership, insurance and copyright packages.
Check out CoCA associations now. Kind regards
