Hello Rona,
CoCA associations held their biannual meeting with the Attorney-General’s Department on 5 May 2016.
There were many interesting points raised, but the most important, affecting all Commonwealth Appointed Celebrants is the soon to be released “new” Marriage Forms.
CoCA was given the opportunity of seeing the new forms, which have been through a Departmental process, then to the Registries of Births, Death and Marriages, and to the Celebrants representatives for comment and input.
The final date for input was 2nd June 2017. Once the final inputs have been received, all submissions will be considered prior to the Attorney-General’s sign off and then release.
The marriage forms being reviewed are: Notice of Intended Marriage Declaration of No Legal Impediment Official Certificate of Marriage Faithful Performance by Interpreter
CoCA’s submission on these marriage forms can be viewed here
Another news items was that the review of the Marriage Regulations has been extended until April 2018.
The Coalition of Celebrant Associations is an “association of associations”. CoCA listens to all Commonwealth marriage celebrants and independent civil celebrants.
Considering joining a celebrant group? CoCA associations have a lot to offer, especially with their membership, insurance and copyright packages. Check out CoCA associations now.
Kind regards CoCA Secretary secretary@coalitionofcelebrantassociations.org.au
