The Coalition of Celebrant Associations (CoCA) Inc as the peak celebrant body in Australia was asked to provide representation on the Industry Reference Group (IRG) for the Review of the Client Services qualifications for the Community Services and Health Industry Skills Council (CS&HISC).

The Certificate IV in Celebrancy is one of the qualifications in the Client Services group. This work involves the streamlining and review of the Certificate IV in Celebrancy. The process commenced on with May 2012 with a one day workshop.

Rona Goold, who was involved in the Second IRG between 2007 and 2009, was selected by CoCA to be its representative.

The CoCA Delegate, working with the Specialist Project Officer, will be actively involved in forming a working party to assist with

  • reviewing the qualification/ occupational standards to ensure it reflects the current Celebrant job role. This may involve restructuring parts of the qualification
  • streamlining the units of competency as per the National Skills Standards Council requirements
  • strengthening the assessment requirements where possible

This IRG is one of 10 IRG groups (listed below) governing CS&HISC’s streamline and review project.

· Direct client care and support
