Note: Whilst CoCA maintains a neutral position as regards changes to the definition of marriage to include same sex couples, as part of CoCA's goals in relation to Child and Forced Marriage concerns, CoCA recommends a definition which
- retains the maturity implied by "a man and a woman" which is not conveyed by the word "people" which can include children and
- strengthens the principle of consent.
"Marriage means the union of two consenting adults to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life.”
