CHC41015 - Skills assessment requirements

In addition to placing the assessment criteria at the end of each Competency Unit in the Certificate IV in Celebrancy 2017 folder in this Training Section, we have collated all the Core and Celebrancy elective units assessment criteria into the single table below.

So those unfamiliar with the VET system, the Competency Units only identity the skills that must be acquired and the knowledge to support those skills. Likewise the Assessment Criteria identifies what needs to be assessed.

Neither documents dictate to a Registered Training Organisation (RTO)  how to deliver their qualification, nor how to assess the knowledge and skills required to be assessed. This means each RTO is free to work out their own course outline.

Some may wish to teach basically in the order of the Competency Units numbered below.

However other RTOs may prefer to have a course that combines elements of different Competency Units into different subjects. For example, some courses may start with "What is Ceremony - its purpose, design and elements", then have subjects such as   "Different types of ceremonies", "Performance skills", "Review and evaluation Skills", Professional Practice Values and Skills. Such subjects could integrate marriage ceremonies and/or funeral ceremonies within each subject. When this approach is taken, then the RTO must map all the items in the Competency Units across the course program to make sure all points are covered.

Likewise the Assessments required can be re-arranged to match the course outline chosen by the RTO, and as such the same ceremony may be used to assess different things. An analysis of this approach can be found on the next page.
